On 27 August 2026 in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, CCSF UI held the Workshop on the General Allocation Fund (Dana Alokasi Umum/DAU): Forest Cover as a Performance Factor in DAU Calculation, bringing together subnational stakeholders to explore how forest cover can connect environmental performance with fiscal policy. The workshop strengthened understanding of the DAU framework while identifying challenges and opportunities for maintaining forest cover, improving coordination, and aligning conservation priorities with subnational development and fiscal incentives.
The discussion brought together perspectives from academia, conservation management, and sustainable finance. Hendrik Segah, Ph.D. from Universitas Palangka Raya presented the dynamics of forest cover in Central Kalimantan and their implications for DAU, highlighting how ecological fiscal incentives can support forest conservation alongside subnational development. Suyoko, S.Hut., M.Si, Head of SPTN Region III at Sebangau National Park, shared insights from the management of Sebangau National Park, including peatland and biodiversity conservation, forest-cover improvement, ecosystem restoration, management challenges, and community empowerment, bringing practical conservation experience into the discussion on linking forest performance with subnational fiscal policy.
